“Volviendo” Documentary Screening

Human Trafficking. Those two words can invoke so many emotions.  Some know what it is all about, some have no idea, but what matters is what you do with the information once you become aware the problem exists. And it is a HUGE problem.

Houston is one of the largest hubs for human trafficking nationwide. Because of the ship channel and the i-10 Corridor, traffickers have been able to cross borders and fill brothels (we call them massage parlors or spas) with Asian women, young and old, and cantinas with Latin Cantineras – the women you find at the bar. These are the two most known expressions of trafficking in Houston.

So it is a HUGE problem, but we know an even BIGGER God. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us. We have the relationship with Jesus as we try to model what it looks like to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8) Each of us plays a part in the solution, and we are even better when we work together.

We would like to invite you to come join us for an evening of Human Trafficking awareness.  September is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and we will be showing Volviendo – a documentary about the roots of the Latin sex trade. Afterwards we will have a panel Question and Answer session where our hope is that you leave with answers, awareness and a call to action. To this end we will be bringing in partnering organizations who are key players in the battle against human trafficking that will help you understand just how many ways there are to be involved in the fight and how easy it is to move.
