The Vineyard Church is Searching for a New Senior Pastor

The Vineyard Church of Stafford/Sugar Land is on the southwest side of the Houston Metropolitan Area. We began with a desire to impact our community with the love of God in Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Vineyard Church was founded by the former National Director of Vineyard USA, Berten Waggoner, in 1994.

We are committed to journeying together in faith and mission, not by enforcing conformity but by nurturing discovery in community. Our gatherings are characterized by a commitment to the exploration of Scripture through reasoned and relevant proclamation, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and experiencing God in the sacramental expressions of shared life together … Word, Spirit, & Sacrament.

We are missionally committed to sharing our faith locally and globally through missions partnerships and through justice and compassion. This includes engaging issues of racism and inequality through hands on service and advocacy.

The Senior Pastor serves as the primary leader of the church under the care and accountability of the board of directors.

Minimum Requirements

  • MDiv preferred.
  • Experience in Vineyard-style ministry
  • Commitment to the ongoing empowering work of the Holy Spirit and the present distribution of the gifts of the Spirit.
  • Experience in preaching/teaching and participating in justice and compassion with a sound biblical and theological foundation.
  • Commitment to building a diverse congregation & empowering diverse leadership (race, gender, age, etc.)
  • Experience with and commitment to the liturgical calendar, weekly communion, and litanies.
  • Experience with and commitment to team-based ministry.
  • Committed to empowering leadership in according to gifting without regard to gender (egalitarian).
  • Demonstrates experience with and commitment to biblical teaching.
  • Biblical proficiency
  • Able to articulate a clearly defined hermeneutic.
  • Experience giving oversight of weekend services and special services.
  • Experience providing leadership of pastoral care of congregants.
  • Experience leading participation in neighborhood, city, and county activities.
  • Strategic planning skills
