Why We Have Baby Dedications & What It Means
Dedicating a child acknowledges God’s sovereignty not only over the child, but also Mom and Dad. Parents present their child before God and His people asking for grace and wisdom in carrying out their responsibilities. Parents also come praying that their child might one day trust Jesus Christ as Savior for the forgiveness of sin.
In dedicating our children to the Lord, we are really committing ourselves as parents to the biblical task of raising them in a way that is pleasing to God. Families with new children are strengthened when they publicly dedicate themselves to raise their children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
You are committing to a life that pursues Jesus and to bring your kids along with you.
What Will Happen at the Dedication:
What we need from you: to send to Pastor Brian everyone’s names & a digital picture of your child.
After worship, usually after the break, Reagan will explain why we do what we do for baby dedications & call the family up.
We will call you up, with any family or friends who are standing with you, to come stand in front of the stage, on the floor. The digital pic that you submit will be shown at that time. We will announce your names, your baby’s name & possibly others, if there’s time.
We will have the church give a verbal commitment to you and your child, then we will pray for the child and Reagan will pray for you guys.
