Sunday, July 11th after church (12:00 – 4:00 PM), the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is going to be upstairs in room B260 accepting blood donations! We would love for as many of you as possible to participate, giving the gift of life to people who are in desperate need. Sign up HERE to reserve a time slot!
A photo I.D. is required, so please bring your drivers license or passport!
Did you know:
- 4.5 million Americans will need a blood transfusion each year
- About 1 in 7 people will need a blood donation, but only 1 in 20 will ever donate
- A single donation can save up to 3 peoples’ lives!
All 16-18 year olds over 122 lbs and all adults over 110 lbs can donate blood with only a few exceptions. If you have any questions about your eligibility, call 713-791-6608.
Before you donate, it is suggested that you take a daily 18-35mg Iron supplement, drink plenty of water or fruit juice, and get a good night’s sleep! Hydration is critical, so drinking ample amounts of water and avoiding dehydrating drinks like coffee and alcohol is recommended for 24 hours before your donation.
When you donate, you will (1) drink a bottle of water, (2) fill out a short survey, (3) donate, and (4) replenish your body at the Revitalization Station with some snacks and juice.
To thank you for your donation, the Blood Center is offering a free beach towel for all donors!
